This was the kind of bullshit we endured multiple times a day some days, under the LNP Coalition. It was one of their last ditch attempts to do damage to Labor. It failed on multiple counts.
Nine years of these bastards, and now we have a nice Left leaning major in office, but also a huge swodge of minors and independents. All in all it was a horrible kick up the backside for both major parties, and one I hope Albanese (Anthony Albanese, leader of the Labor party, the newly-installed sitting government, and the left wing because we’re a confusing mob) takes note of how close to the edge they’re skating.
Neither major had a plan to stop exporting fossil fuels. The Greens (who are third in line vote-wise) did. Neither major party is much into making the change to EVs and a LOT more sustainable energy. Guess who does?
Those are going to be sticking points, both during legislation and at the next election, and both parties need to learn from the hammering they both got. (Both Labor and the previous LNP Coalition had large swings against them, and Greens must have gained a few of those.)
I so wish I was an advisor to them.
Anyway - interesting times in Australia, a lot of people have had surprises in this last week.
